Dr. Ghulam Nabi Chaudhry was the founder of Asia Poultry Feeds. He established Asia Poultry Feeds (Pvt.) Ltd. on October 04, 1993. He graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UVAS and started his career as a Veterinary officer at a government hospital. Still, the ambitious and proactive man in him compelled him to step forward to more significant challenges.

Taking a look back at the establishment and progress of Asia Poultry Feeds

Accepting the challenge posed by his progressive nature, the first step taken towards establishing Asia Poultry Feeds was when he acquired a feed agency (Hi feed) in Multan and built a good reputation by providing swift and quality technical services to farmers. Their result-oriented approach and dedication to work helped farmers to achieve high economic results.

After years of experience in the business of chicks and Feed, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Chaudhry decided to set up a poultry feed mill in Multan. As with most startups, the beginning was marked by limited financial resources, and hence the campaign began with a mesh feed mill when the industry had already moved to Pellet feed. Production was slow and low, as we favored acquiring only the supreme quality grains by digging deep into our own pockets. The world saw the visionary entrepreneur acquire the agency of SB Chicks for South Punjab, Sindh. Dr. Ghulam Nabi's prime focus was building brand awareness and customer loyalty in the region, resulting in a spike in sales. It was vital for Asia Poultry Feeds to understand the poultry business from the grass-root level. Subsequently, not only did Asia Poultry Feeds successfully sell the mesh feed in the market, but that too at a higher price than pellet feed!

Proliferation and expansion of the company:

Despite the superior feed quality due to freight and costly carriage, Asia poultry feeds found competing in North Punjab and Urban Sindh markets challenging. Hence it was decided to set up feed mills near Lahore and Karachi. Lahore Feed Mill and Karachi Feed Mill started production. Asia Poultry Feeds has three state-of-the-art feed production units in Multan, Lahore, and Karachi. We are now providing services and quality feed all over the country.

The installment of the single-stage hatchery

Asia Poultry feeds installed Pakistan's first state-of-the-art single-stage hatchery for commercial broilers, upholding the tradition of revolutionizing the local market and providing their customers with a superior product. Single-stage incubators have been extensively used to produce high-quality and healthy parent stock in Poultry Sector. They need more investment and operate at a higher cost than multi-stage hatcheries. It improves biosecurity and sanitation, better control of incubation parameters (heat, humidity, CO2), reduced hatchery labor, and improves chick quality.

Today's concerns about food safety, which are now focused on producing live birds, are putting more pressure on integrators to reduce exposure to organisms and pathogens in poultry facilities, including hatcheries. For the first time in Pakistan, Asia Feeds decided to bring the same quality and health to the broiler, which reaches the end consumer. Hence the customers can perform better, and consumers get healthier chicken.

Installment of automatic environment-controlled breeder houses

Genetics and nutritional improvements in broiler production were critical to the efficiency of poultry meat production. However, the full genetic potential of a broiler cannot be reached unless the broiler's home is maintained in a proper environment. Fast-growing modern broiler strains rely more on appropriate environmental conditions than birds of strains raised just a few years ago.

Environmentally controlled poultry farms are now famous for broiler and layer poultry farms. This residential system uses fans, cooling pads, and electronic controls to maintain temperature and humidity at desirable levels so the bird remains comfortable. This type of housing has low energy loss and improves the feed conversion ratio (FCR). The controller monitors the environmental conditions of the house and regulates heating and ventilation. In the case of broilers, there is more meat and more eggs produced in the case of layers.

Besides, ultra-modern hatchery and best hatchery management are still half successful as practices and requirements in breeder farms play a vital role in the quality of chicks. This is why Asia Feeds invested in Pakistan's first fully automatic environment-controlled breeder houses in Pakistan so that we could produce quality hatchable eggs under stringent biosecurity and modern breeding techniques.

Asia Poultry Feeds has been trendsetting in the industry since its inception. Before Asia Poultry Feeds started its operations, farmers did not measure the Feed quality. Dr. Ghulam Nabi introduced the concept of feed conversion ratio (FCR) in the local market to help farmers better understand the feed's economics and efficacy. Always a step ahead

In 1998 Asia Poultry fed upgraded its Production unit to make it the first fully automated and most advanced feed mill unit in Pakistan. People in local industry disparaged this up-gradation, but the Pakistani Feed mill industry soon followed that design in the coming years. The new feed mill design is based on the model of our state-of-the-art Feed Mill Unit in Multan.
